Book your free 15-minute phone consultation here using my online booking portal.

What are your fees? The regular session rates are $158.00 per 50-min individual therapy session, and $190.00 per 50-min couple/family therapy session. Payment is required at the end of each session. Direct billing is not offered. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance company, or the receipt can be saved for tax purposes. Payment is accepted via credit card or e-transfer.
-
Are sessions covered by insurance?Psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP; however, many clients have extended health benefits through employee or private health insurance plans. These plans are likely to provide full or partial coverage for services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. To confirm your coverage, please check with your provider if you have any coverage for Psychotherapy. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance company.
-
What is your cancellation policy? If you have to change or cancel an appointment, please notify me as soon as possible. Partial or full session fees may apply when appointments are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. I may waive the cancellation fee for extenuating circumstances such as acute illness or emergency, but this will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The 24 hours notice provides an opportunity to offer the open appointment slot to other clients, which would not be feasible to do on short notice.

-
Do you offer in-person sessions?I do not currently offer in-person services.
-
How does online therapy work?I do not currently offer in-person services. Sessions are held online/virtually by secure video (using Jane) or by telephone to clients anywhere in Ontario. Before your session, you will get an email link in your inbox that will take you right into your appointment.

How long will therapy last? This varies from person to person and depends on your specific goals and needs. Each session is 50-min in length, but some people may prefer a longer session of 80-mins. A longer session may also be recommended when working with couples and family members together. I usually suggest that we meet weekly or bi-weekly for the first few sessions, then space them out based on your current needs. Generally speaking, for specific issues, you might find the support you’re looking for after 5-10 sessions. For longer-term patterns or complex issues, or for clients looking to establish regular check-ins within an established therapeutic relationship, I will work with most clients for at least 6 months.

What if my spouse/partner, or family member, doesn't want to try couples/family therapy? If your partner isn't ready for couples therapy, you could consider starting with more regular check-ins, reading a book together on communication and/or intimacy, or prioritizing a few minutes of quality time together each day. Individual therapy can also be a good way for you to make sense of your own needs, emotions, and patterns, and to discover new ways of communicating that can influence your relationship in a positive way.
